본 연구는 요하네스 브람스의 독일 레퀴엠 네 손을 위한 피아노 편곡을 대상으로, 그 구조적 특징과 피아노의 표현 가능성을 활용한 재해석을 중점적으로 고찰하였다. 이 편곡은 예술적 독립성을 유지하면서도 아마추어 음악가들이 쉽게 접근할 수 있는 매체로 기능한다. 특히 합창과 결합될 경우, 원곡의 음악적 본질을 보존하면서 감정적 깊이를 더하고 표현의 다양성을 확장하여 음악적 정서를 심화한다. 또한, 이러한 편곡은 연주 환경에 따라 다양한 오케스트라 악기와 조합해 혁신적 공연 형식으로의 가능성도 제시하였다. 이와 같은 예술적 완성도와 실용성의 균형은 이 편곡을 더 넓은 대중과 소통할 수 있는 가치 있는 수단임을 시사하였다. 향후 연구에서는 포스트 뉴노멀 시대의 변화하는 공연 환경에 맞춘 새로운 가능성을 탐구하며, 의미 있는 음악적 소통을 촉진하는 데 있어 이 편곡의 역할을 강조할 것이다.
Abstract
This study examines Johannes Brahms’s piano duet arrangement of A German Requiem, focusing on its structural characteristics and reinterpretation through the piano’s expressive potential. The arrangement demonstrates artistic independence while serving as an accessible medium for amateur musicians. When combined with a choir, it preserves the original's musical essence while enhancing the depth and emotional impact of the performance. Its adaptability to orchestral instrumentation suggests potential for innovative performance formats. This balance of artistic integrity and practicality positions the arrangement as a valuable tool for engaging broader audiences. Future research will explore its application in post-New Normal performance practices, emphasizing its role in fostering meaningful musical communication.
