Abstract
This study explores the developments and utilization of open access copyright licensing on published materials in the digital age. Accordingly, it looks at the use of the open access license widely known as Creative Commons (CC). For this purpose, this study utilizes a qualitative approach by using research Papers and publicly available copyright materials. The findings suggest that 1) various types of CC license allows its wider use and accessibility for various published materials, 2) CC licensing proved advantageous for authors, publishers, and readers; and 3) helps in resolving limitations within the traditional high-cost access to published materials. In the end, this study concludes that Creative Commons licensing is the most effective in widening access to publications and going beyond the barriers of print copyright licensing. As with the majority of studies, face-to-face investigations in this study are limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
