본 연구는 지역별 여가복지시설의 가용성과 노인의 삶의 만족 간의 관계에서 여가복지시설 이용 여부가 매개 할을 하는지를 검증하였다. 이를 위해 2023년 「노인실태조사」 원자료와 통계청 노인여가시설 데이터를 결합하여 활용하였으며, 최종 분석 상은 지역사회에 거주하는 65세 이상 노인 9,951명이었다. 주요 변수는 지역별 노인 1,000명당 여가시설 수, 최근 1년 이내 여가복지시설 이용 여부, 삶의 만족이며, 기술통계, 이변량 분석, 위계적 회귀분석, 매개효과 검증을 위한 붓스트래핑(bootstrapping)을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 여가복지시설의 가용성이 높을수록 노인의 삶의 만족이 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 시설 이용은 그 관계에서 규모는 작지만 통계적으로 유의한 매개 경로로 작용하였다. 이러한 결과는 시설 인프라 확충뿐 아니라 이용 장벽을 완화함으로써 지역사회 내에서 노인이 지역에 거주하며 노후를 영위할 수 있는 환경을 강화할 필요성을 강조한다. 본 연구는 대규모 국가통계자료를 활용하여 지역 인프라와 개인의 행동적 요인을 함께 고려한 분석을 수행함으로써, 노인의 삶의 만족 향상을 위한 지역사회 여가정책 설계에 기초자료를 제공한다.
Abstract
This study investigates whether the use of leisure welfare facilities mediates the relationship between the regional availability of such facilities and life satisfaction among older adults in Korea. Using data from the 2023 National Survey of Older Koreans (NSOK) linked with Statistics Korea’s registry of leisure welfare facilities, we analyzed 9,951 adults aged 65 and older. Descriptive analyses, bivariate tests, and hierarchical regression models with bootstrapped confidence intervals were conducted. Results indicated that greater facility availability was associated with higher life satisfaction among older adults, and that facility use served as a small but significant mediating pathway. Although the magnitude of the indirect effect was modest, the findings suggest that both structural conditions(facility distribution) and behavioral engagement contribute to older adults’ life satisfaction. These results underscore the need for policies that not only expand facility infrastructure but also reduce barriers to utilization, thereby strengthening community environments that support aging in place.
