무손자녀 노인 유형의 분포 및 사회인구학적 특성과신체적, 심리적 건강에 미치는 영향

연구목적: 무손자녀 노인의 유형을 자녀유무 및 자녀의 혼인상태에 따라 구분하여 그 분포를 살펴보고 유형에 따른 인구사회학적 특성과 신체적, 심리적 건강에 미치는 영향을 손자녀가 있는 노인과 비교하는데 있다. 연구방법: 이를 위해 2020년 노인실태조사를 활용하여, 65세 이상 노인 9,920명의 자료를 분석하였다. 기술통계, t 검증, χ2 검증, ANOVA, 중다회귀분석이 사용되었다. 연구내용: 무손자녀노인의 비율과 함께 자녀유무와 자녀의 혼인상태에 따라 무손자녀 노인을 무자녀 무손자녀 노인, 모든 자녀가 미혼인 무손자녀 노인, 기혼자녀가 있는 무손자녀 노인으로 구분하고 그 분포를 살펴보았다. 다음으로 각 유형별 연령, 성별, 교육수준의 특성을 손자녀가 있는 노인과 비교하여 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 각 유형이 노인의 주관적 신체적 건강과 우울 수준에 미치는 영향을 손자녀가 있는 상황과 비교하여 살펴보았다. 결론 및 제언: 본 연구대상자의 약 12%가 무손자녀 노인이었고 이들은 손자녀가 있는 노인에 비해 연령이 낮고, 남자인 경우가 더 많았으며 더 높은 교육 수준을 보고하였다. 무손자녀 노인 유형에 따라 연령, 성별, 교육수준에 차이가 있었다. 또한 무손자녀 노인이 손자녀가 있는 노인에 비해 우울 수준이 유의하게 높았다. 같은 무손자녀 상황이라도 그 유형에 따라 인구사회학적 특성과 주관적 신체적 건강과 우울 수준에 미치는 영향이 상이하였다. 이러한 결과와 연구의 제한점을 토대로 논의와 후속 연구에 대한 제안을 제시하였다.
Abstract
This study aimed to examine the prevalence of the grandchildess older adults’ three types, the sociodemographic characteristics of each type, and the effects of being grandchildless on physical and psychological health. The typology of the grandchildess was classified into the no-child grandchildless, the grandchildless with never-married children only, and the grandchildless with at least one married child. Using the National Survey of Korean Elderly 2020, the data from 9,920 older adults over 65 were analyzed. The data were analyzed utilizing t-test, χ2 test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. 12% of the study sample were grandchildless. The results showed that there were significant differences in age, gender, and educational level by the presence of a grandchild and the types of the grandchildless. The grandchildless was younger, were more likely to be a man and to have a higher educational level compared to those grandparents. Among the grandchildess, their sociodemographic status were different depending on their types. Also, the grandchildless reported a lower level of depressive symptoms than those with a grandchild did, In addition, the effect of being grandchildless on subjective physical health and depression level would be differed by its type. Based on the results and study limitations, the discussions and the directions for future research were suggested.
