천문역법에 있어서 가장 기본은 태양의 운동에 대한 이해이다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 조선의 시헌력(時憲曆)과 관련된 주요 역법 중에서 許遠의 『細草類彙』, 南秉吉의 『時憲紀要』, 南秉哲의 『推步續解』를 살펴보았다. 한문으로 집필된 태양의 운동을 이해하는데 있어서 번역을 넘어 천문학적, 수학적 해설을 시도해 보았다. 중국의 역법책인 『崇禎曆書』, 『曆象考成』, 『歷象考成後編』의 충분한 이해 없이는 조선이 남긴 천문역법책들의 내용을 이해하기는 그리 쉽지 않았다. 한문으로 기록된 천문역법의 이해는 번역과 함께 천문학적, 수학적 해설이 필수적이다.
Abstract
The most basic understanding In Astronomical calendar is the motion of the Sun. For this purpose, in this study, among the major Joseon's Siheon calendars(時憲曆), Heo Won(許遠)'s 『Secho Ryuhui(細草類彙)』, Nam Byeonggil(南秉吉)'s 『Siheon Giyo(時憲紀要)』, and Nam Byeongcheol(南秉哲)'s 『Chubo Sokhae(推步續解)』 were examined. In order to understand the motion of the Sun written in Chinese, I tried astronomical and mathematical explanations beyond translation. For the more, it was not easy to understand the contents of the astronomical calendar books left by the Joseon Dynasty without a sufficient understanding of the Chinese calendars "Chongzhen Reign Treatises on Calendrical Astronomy(崇禎曆書)", "Thorough Investigation of Calendrical Astronomy(曆象考成)", and "Lixiang Kaocheng Houbian(歷象考成後編)". Also, in order to understand the astronomical calendar written in Chinese, astronomical and mathematical explanations along with translation are essential.
