본 연구는 우리말 『시경』 번역 성과의 주요 유형을 고찰하고 이들 성과가 디지털 시대 우리 언어와 정신에 발전적 자양분으로 보다 유용하게 활용되기 위한 제시 방안을 모색하는 데 주요 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 우리말 『시경』 번역의 주요 유형을 ‘전통 언해에 의거한 재번역’, ‘특정 주석에 의거한 번역’, ‘전통 주석 및 근현대 음운․명물 고증 연구 성과를 종합 반영한 번역’, ‘『시경』의 시적 미감을 살린 창작으로서의 번역시’, 네 가지로 나누어 각 유형의 특징을 고찰하였다. 아울러, 디지털 시대의 『시경』번역은 그동안 다방면에서 이루어진 번역․연구 성과를 체계적으로 종합할 수 있는 환경 속에서 축적․계승․발전되어야 함을 제안하고, 일례로 「召南․行露」편 ‘厭浥’의 발음 제시 방안을 소개하였다. 『시경』의 경문 및 주석번역은 특정 번역가가 전담해 완성하고 완성품을 하나의 형태로 출판․공시하는 번역구조보다는, 번역자와 연구자의 성과가 정기적․지속적으로 반영될 수 있는 열린 구조의 번역플랫폼 구축이 필요함을 제안하였다. 이러한 형태의 번역플랫폼은 오랜 전통을 지닌 경전번역에서 각 번역자의 고유한 번역 가치가 존중되고 향후 경전의 재번역․재해석의 가치가 담보되는 데 기여할 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라, 번역자와 연구자가 개별 주석을 일일이 찾아가는 시간을 덜고 경전주석의 출처 및 주석 경향을 효율적으로 파악하는 데에도 유용할 것으로 사료된다.
Abstract
This study aims to investigate the main Korean translation types of the Book of Songs and to seek the more effective ways of presenting these attainments in order to apply them to our language and mind in the Digital era as an evolutive nourishment. To this end, first, we divide the main Korean translation types of the Book of Songs into four types: a retranslation according to the traditional translation; a translation following a specific annotation; a translation of synthesizing traditional and present research result in phonological, hermeneutic, bibliographical studies; a translated poetry vitalizing poetic sense which can be regarded as a creation. In addition, this essay suggests that translation of the digital era needs a systemic environment where various fields of translation and related research can be accumulated, promoted and developed. We introduced a method to present the pronunciation of ‘厭浥’ shown in Poem 17. Xing Lu, of the Book of Songs for example. We also suggest that we need an open-structured translation where the performance of translators and researchers could be reflected regularly and continuously, rather than a structure that was exclusively completed by a particular translator in a single form. This type of translation platform can secure the value of translation and reinterpretation produced by each translator and researcher’s unique and conscientious effort in the long-standing translation sector of Confucian Classics. Not only that, it can be useful for translators and researchers to spend less time searching for individual annotations and to grasp the related sources and annotation trends more effectively.
