일제하 韓日 무역 네트워크 형성의 한 樣相 -1920, 30년대 초 견직물 무역업계의 사례-

Abstract

International trades between Korea and Japan rapidly grew under the Japanese rule. The previous studies on this period have mainly focused on a macroscopic trend of the trade activities, and they appear to have paid little attention to issues on changes of the international trades experienced by Korean, Japanese, and Chinese traders at a stage to expand the international trades between Korea and Japan and on institutions and organizations for Korean and Japanese traders to increase the trades. Consequently, the existing studies may neglect microscopic investigations on a type of the trade network and how to build a distribution system of exported or imported products. This study is an approach to these microscopic issues by investigating cases of silk (including artificial silk) traders in Korea and Japan in 1920's through early 1930's. In a point of view on a distribution system of products, a colonial rule by an imperial country means that merchants from the imperial country are able to construct a network for stable monopolistic trades, capital cooperation, human interchanges, exchanges of information, and technological cooperation, with supports of the imperial country. Such a network made by the imperial merchants continues to exist in the long run, and the network becomes a patterned structure to promote interchanges between two regions: the imperial country's commercial system absorbs the merchants and the commercial system in its colonial country; and this, on the other hand, results in propagation of the trade and commercial institutions of the imperial country. Therefore, this study argues that a formation of a colonial trade network is regarded as a necessary task to establish a 'commercial network of an Empire' and it also is one of important research subjects to figure out a structure of the network for trades between the imperial and the colonial country.
