성찰적 사회비평으로서의 사회인문학과 경계의 사유

초록

이 글의 목적은 사회인문학을 성찰적 사회비평으로 이해하고, 오늘의 이른바 탈현대적 지적 지형 속에서 이 기획에 요구되는 사유형태로서 경계의 사유의 윤곽을 그리는 데 있다. 2장에서는, 사회인문학이 사회 안에서 사회에 대한 비판적 진단과 개입이라는 성찰적 구조를 지닌다는 점을 밝히고, 이 성찰적 사회비평의 일반적 문법을 제시한다. 3장에서는, 오늘의 지적 논쟁을 감안할 때, 성찰적 사회비평이 가능하기 위해서는 비판과 정당화의 날개가 모두 요구되고, 이 두 날개가 동시에 작동하기 위해서는 경계의 사유가 요구된다는 것을 지적한다. 4장에서는 라깡의 성차공식의 재해석을 통해 내부의 사유와 외부의 사유의 모델을 제시하고, 세계 속에서 세계의 재현이라는 과제와 관련하여 두 가지 사유를 종합하는 경계의 사유가 어떤 구조를 갖는지를 설명한다. 그리고 내부의 사유와 외부의 사유가 어떻게 매개되는지를 5장에서는 시적 언어와 산문적 언어의 변증법이라는 형태로, 6장에서는 타당성 주장과 메시아적 약속의 변증법이라는 형태로 제시한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to interpret social-humanities as reflexive social criticism and to propose the thought of/on boundary as the form of thought that will make it possible for reflexive social criticism to operate under the so-called postmodern intellectual constellations. The thought of/on boundary is defined as a synthesis of ‘thought of the inside’(which is characterized by the distinction between the transcendental and the immanent) and ‘thought of the outside’(which is characterized by the distinction between the marked and the unmarked). I reconstruct Lacan’s formulations of masculine sexuality as the model for thought of the inside and those of feminine sexuality as the model for thought of the outside. Why and how should these two models of thought be mediated into thought of boundary? I answer this question by introducing two dialectics: the dialectic of the poetic and the prosaic in the dimension of the theory of meaning and that of validity claims and the messianic promise in the political-ethical dimension.
