광합성 연구의 과학사를 활용한 수업의 효과

Abstract

This research, applied to the 10th graders of vocational high school, aims to determine the effect of teaching using science history related with photosynthesis on students' academic achievement, inquiry ability and science-related attitude. The teaching materials for the experimental group consisted of the aims of experiments, the experimental procedures, the analysis of their results, and the debate among scientists who contributed greatly to discover the photosynthesis. In contrast to this, the teaching materials for the control group consisted of the experimental procedures introduced in the biology textbooks. The teaching class using science history related with photosynthesis was shown to be statistically more effective in promoting students' academic achievement and inquiry ability and their long-term retention than the traditional teaching class. But the teaching class using science history related with photosynthesis did not seem to be statistically effective in promoting students' science-related attitude and their long-term retention than the traditional teaching class.
