Securing water supply in agriculture is very important. Therefore, much effort was made to secure water supply from Inancient Times. Hwangdeungje in Iksan is an Embankment built by Baekje. However, this Hwangdeungje did not secure water supply. So from Gwanghaegun of The Chosun Dynasty era, we made a waterway in Mangyong-river under Vivizheng of Samre and connected to Hwangdeungje. It was then maintained. This waterway is dokjuhang-waterway. In the Japanse colonical period, the Japanses made and used another waterway. This is Vivizheng-waterway.
