전북가야와 후백제 연구의 현황과 전망 ― 네트워크 분석을 통한 비교 검토 ―

본 연구에서는 전라북도를 배경으로 진행되고 있는 전북가야와 후백제 연구의 최근 동향을 네트워크 분석을 통해 비교·검토하였다. 두 분야 모두 세계유산 등재(가야)와 역사문화권 지정(후백제)이라는 정책·제도적 계기를 통해 단기간에 연구가 급속히 확대되었으나, 연구자 층의 협소함과 고고학 자료의 부족이라는 공통점이 있다. 본고에서는 RISS, KCI, DBpia를 통해 수집한 학술 논문(총 213편)을 대상으로 네트워크 분석을 실시하였다. 특히 연구량 추이, 연구자 분포, 핵심 키워드, LDA 토픽 모델링 및 2-mode spring 시각화를 통해 연구 경향을 파악하고자 하였다. 그 결과, 전북가야 연구는 세계유산 등재 이후 연구 활동의 부진과 연구자 층의 편중을 벗어나지 못하고 있으며, 후백제 연구는 정책적 지원과 발굴 성과를 기반으로 도성·불교·외교 등 다학제적 주제가 상대적으로 확산되는 양상을 보였다. 그러나 두 주제 모두 학술적 지속가능성을 담보하기 위해서는 연구 주제의 다변화, 연구자 층 확대, 고고자료의 체계적인 검증, 그리고 학술 연구성과의 지역 사회 환류작업 등이 요구된다. 본 연구는 정책 담론과 학술 연구의 상호작용을 네트워크 분석으로 검토함으로써, 향후 지역 고대사 연구의 내실화와 사회적 활용 가능성을 모색할 수 있는 시사점을 제공해 준다.
Abstract
Recent trends in research on Jeonbuk Gaya and Later Baekje, both set in Jeollabuk-do, were compared through network analysis in this study. In this paper, the research methodology involved the application of text mining and NetMiner analysis to a corpus of 213 academic papers. Research trends were identified by analyzing research volume, researcher distribution, core keywords, latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) topic modeling. Research shows that, despite a quantitative expansion following World Heritage inscription, Jeonbuk Gaya research remains focused on burial mounds. Conversely, Later Baekje research demonstrated academic deepening, with interdisciplinary topics such as fortified cities, Buddhism, and diplomacy expanding based on policy support and excavation achievements. However, both cases require diversification of research topics, generational renewal of researchers, and community feedback to ensure academic sustainability. This study provides foundational data for enhancing the substance of regional ancient history research and its potential for social application by examining the interaction between policy discourse and academic research through network analysis.
