Abstract
In order to enhance utilization of female human resource, Korean military has focused on only quantitative expansion recently. This can bring a set of problems which are gender imbalance in career management and lower utilization of manpower. This article is positive research on gendered career management of Air force that has gender neutral personnel institutions. The subject of study is all of 11st, 12nd, and 13rd-year officers in air force. It is because the first female officers who were commissioned in air force has served 13 years and military career management is mainly applied to long-term service officers served over 10 years. This research focuses on position and education which are important career in military. The results of this study show that career management is not gender neutral. As to position career, female officers have less career than male officer in the lowest level unit like squadron and in combat unit like fighter wing. And female officers have more unofficial position career and educational career, especially degree education. In addition to gender variable, marriage, parental leave, and commissioning source are interrelated to unit type and level, formalization of position, and education career. It means the problem of female utilization is complex, because there are various causes needed to be considered via organizational perspective.
