Abstract

The aim of this paper is to investigate the effective developing method of latent fingerprint on thermal and carbonless paper in crime scene evidence. Thermal and carbonless papers are specialty papers which were coated with coreactant (color former), developer dyes and sensitizer on paper according to purpose of using. In addition yield by variety image by heat and pressure. We compared the developing of latent fingerprint by chemical method on three different thermal and carbonless papers each side. The blackening and ink’s bleeding, running on handwriting and machinery document is caused by the use of organic polor solvents like methanol, acetone, etc as ninhydrin solutions and it is also due to the developing temperature of 90 o C-100 o C. This method was unsuitable for developing latent fingerprint and conserve of evidence. Through this work, it was determined that various efficiency of latent fingerprint developing according to characteristic of side of each paper and iodine fuming followed by ninhydrin in HFE (hydrofluoroether) or CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) as a carrier solvent yielded the most effective results, respectively.
