Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze current problems from various aspects and suggest the development direction of private security industry by analyzing accident concerned to private security, which are recently issued through mass media. For the study, the researcher referred to and analyzed private security accident data, which have been issued through mass media including main daily newspapers, as well as considered domestic and overseas literature data basically. The study suggests development direction of Korean private security industry by dividing it into legal ․ systematic development direction, political development direction. In the legal․systematic aspect, the study discussed about reinforcement of employment standard and procedure, improvement of mechanic security work and restriction of subcontract. It is necessary to reinforce guard employment standard and stipulate identification check in prior to deployment of guard in the field because there is no enough system to qualify guard and hire verified guard. In case of mechanical security work, it is necessary to improve wrong warning and coping system. In addition, decrease of guard's wage may cause a problem because of security work subcontract. Moreover, it is led to bad influences such as impossibility of proper security work and increase of guard's job transfer so we have to review the establishment of rule that restricts subcontract in entire security works. From the economical aspect, the study suggests introduction of qualification system and preparation of standard work manual. Qualification system shall be classified on the basis of duty analysis and qualification grade, verification subject and verification method shall be classified on the basis of qualified person's function. Therefore, specific qualification model shall be suggested by classifying it into the qualification of security instructor, security planning company and guard. In addition, we have to reinforce qualitative growth of entire security industry by establishing and distributing standard 'work manual' so that private security is effectively operated and capacity of security company is improved.
