초록
This study discusses the use of Actor-network Theory (ANT) on history of science in science education by analyzing the formation process of ‘Mendel’s Law’. Like other scientific histories, ‘Mendel’s Law’ is known to have been created by one scientist, Gregor Mendel. However, through the four moments of translation proposed by Callon, the law of Mendel was found to have been constructed by various nonhuman actors. By analyzing the formation process of nonhuman actor networks that have been reduced to ‘context’ or ‘background’ in previous studies, this research reveals in detail the process of scientific knowledge formation and the execution of scientists, which were previously explained by ‘coincidence’ or ‘instinct’. Furthermore, it is suggested that by analyzing the history of science from an ANT perspective, the ability to understand the Nature of Science (NOS) and cultivate scientific practices can be enhanced.
