이 연구는 수화언어(수어, 수화)의 경찰업무 분야 도입에 관한 경찰공무원들의 인식을 조사·분석하여, 수어도입의 가능성과 타당성에 관해 검토해 보고자 함을 목적으로 한다. 연구목적 달성을 위해 경찰공무원 304명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 분석결과 대체로 수어필요성을 경험한 정도는 낮은 것으로 나타났으며, 수화사용능력이 조직성과 개선에 기여한다는 인식, 적법절차 원칙의 준수를 위해 수화사용능력이 필요하다는 인식 ,수사효율을 제고하는데 기여할 것이라는 인식에서 경찰 관리자급과 경찰 실무자급간에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 나타내었다. 또 경찰업무에 수화가 도입된다면 수사·형사부서, 생활안전, 여성청소년 등의 순으로 그 필요도가 높을 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 이 연구는 경찰업무 분야에 수어 도입에 관한 기초 연구로서 함의를 가지나, 표본표집방법, 문헌 및 선행연구 검토의 한계 등이 존재한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the perception of Police officers about the introduction of sign language in police work and to examine the possibility and validity of introduction of sign language. In order to accomplish the purpose of the study, I surveyed 304 police officers. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the degree of experience in the use of sign language was low. And I found statistically significant difference between the level of the police manager and the level of the police officers in perception that the ability to use sign language contributed to the improvement of organizational performance, in perception that sign language was needed for due process and in perception that sign language improved the efficiency of investigation. In addition, if sign language was introduced to the police work, t was recognized that the need for investigation and criminal investigation department preferentially. This study had the implication as basic research about sign language in police work in Korea and the convenience sampling and scarce preceding research analysis was limitation of this study.
