Abstract

The role of police has recently broken from conventional category and it is extending day by day. This extension is from the needs of citizen as well as the transformation of paradigm in community policing. Contrary to conventional police activity, the role of community policing is not to response to the occurred crime rapidly but to realize society without crime. This study aims to challenge the dominant view of community policing since the last decade of the twentieth century are fundamentally new. Community policing is needed to think newly because of the new aspects of terrorism, such as the transnational nature of the perpetrators and their organizations, their religious inspiration and fanaticism, their use of weapons of mass destruction, and their indiscriminate targeting. That is New Terrorism, which is the emergence of a new, religiously motivated terrorism that neither relies on the support of sovereign states nor is constrained by limits on violence. This study looks at 'Intelligence-Led Policing' - since 9ㆍ11 seen as one of the more positive contributions that policing can make to crime prevention and reduction. And also this study aims to provide an overview of Intelligence-Led Policing and identifies the key tenets of intelligence-led policing. Intelligence-led policing is a business model and managerial philosophy where data analysis and crime intelligence are pivotal to an objective, decision-making framework that facilitates crime and problem reduction, disruption and prevention through both strategic management and effective enforcement strategies that target prolific and serious offenders. Intelligence-Led Policing is a crime reduction strategy or operation as well as management tool. This study calls for more thorough conceptional investigations in order to appreciate truly new concept of Intelligence-Led Policing and could contribute on exploring the methods of advanced community policing in this intelligent age.
