초록
This study investigated the preservice biology teachers’ cooperative problem solving competency after the science inquiry program using Arduino. The 23 preservice biology teachers participated in this study. The program took 12 week lessons, 2 hours per week, consisting of understanding of Arduino, basic coding and programming, design and production of electrocardiogram measurement device, and electrocardiogram measurement activities using Arduino. The preservice science teachers participated in the process of establishing a cooperative method for problem solving by group while solving problems using Arduino. The scores of preservice biology teachers' collaborative problem-solving competency improved statistically significantly after participating in the science inquiry program using Arduino (p<.05). In particular, the scores of the sub-domains of ‘fair participation and feedback’ in the social cooperation competency and ‘ICT use’ in the ICT utilization collaboration literacy statistically significantly improved (p<.05) compared to the pretest after the intervention. In addition, the preservice teachers mentioned the problem solving competency (43%), social cooperation competency (32%), and CT utilization collaboration literacy (25%) in the open-ended questionnaire. This study implicated that science inquiry program using physical computing, such as Arduino helps to develop future competencies, cooperative problem-solving abilities within digital age.
