This study aimed to analyze the process, effectiveness and satisfaction of a protocol-developed on the basis of a Professional Learning Community (PLC)- designed to foster pre-service elementary teachers’ digital literacy teaching competencies in science lessons. To achieve this, the PLC protocol was implemented with 11 pre-service elementary teachers at G University of Education. Participants’ activities during the implementation process and outcomes were recorded and interviews were conducted. And these data were analyzed from the perspective of digital literacy teaching competencies. The results showed that the PLC protocol contributed to the development of pre-service teachers’ digital basic competencies, digital teaching competencies, and their recognition of the educational value of utilizing digital technologies. Additionally, participants reported high satisfaction with the PLC protocol. This study suggests that the PLC protocol holds promise as a practical teacher education model for fostering digital literacy teaching competencies among pre-service elementary teachers and highlights the need for its systematic integration into teacher preparation curricula.
