허난설헌 「유선사」에 나타난 불우의식 연구: 시어통계와 분석을 기반으로

허난설헌은 봉건적 유교 질서 하에서 뚜렷한 작가의식을 보여준 여류작가로 평가된다. 허난설헌의 한시에는 자아와 세계의 갈등 양상 및 이에 대한 반응의 스펙트럼이 잘 나타나 있다. 본 논문은 연작 한시 「遊仙詞」 87수를 대상으로 불우의식의 형상화 과정을 살피는 데 목적을 두었다. ‘不遇’란 ‘만나지 못했다’는 뜻이므로, 만남의 대상이 무엇 혹은 누구인가에 따라 의식의 발현태가 달라지게 마련이다. 허난설헌의 「유선사」는 자신을 억압하는 현실의 굴레를 외면하고 도피하기 위해 선계를 꿈꾸고 형상화한 텍스트에 머무르지 않는다. 허난설헌의 선계는 현실의 탈출구로서 자유로운 욕망의 날개짓을 펼치는 공간만도 아니며, 감당하기 어려운 현실의 고통과 괴로움을 망각하기 위한 피안처만도 아니다. 문면에 드러난 다양한 遊仙 행위 못지않게 詠懷의 의미가 중요하다는 측면에서, 허난설헌의 「유선사」 분석도 그 안에 내포된 정서와 의식에 초점을 맞출 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 「유선사」 시어의 통계를 추출하고 그 의미를 분석하여 시상 전개 과정에서 정서적 맥락을 찾아보았다. 시어의 선정은 작품의 정감 기여도를 기준으로 삼았으며, 해당 정감어가 포함된 시구 전체를 제시하여 정감어의 의미화 기제를 파악하고자 하였다. 허난설헌은 자신의 정서와 욕망을 있는 그대로 재현함으로써 현실의 결핍을 극복하고자 했다. 제도적 굴레와 억압이 강해질수록 자아정체성 회복과 현실 극복 욕망도 커졌다. 이러한 동기는 「유선사」라는 문학적 형상화를 통해 선계 지향으로 표출된다. 이성의 자각과 반성을 기반으로 하는 정서적 침잠을 통해 초월을 시도한 것이라 해석할 수 있다. 「유선사」 속에서 허난설헌은 이상향 속의 여신이 되어 여유로운 풍류를 구가한다. 어릴 적 「앙간비금도」로 소망했던 비상의 욕망을 선계를 통해 실현하고자 했던 것이다. 이런 점에서 「유선사」가 허난설헌의 판타지 세계였음은 분명하다. 그러나 시어의 빈도 및 의미 분석을 고려하건대 현실적 좌절과 한계를 극복했다고는 보기 어렵다. 선계를 통해 현실의 초월을 꿈꾸었으나 암담한 현실로 복귀하는 과정에서 반복적으로 겪게 되는 허탈감이 더욱 심화되었고, 이로 인해 정감 자체에 매몰되는 부작용이 발생했다. 이 부작용의 작가적 표출 방식을 불우의식이라 할 수 있다. 「유선사」의 중심주제가 사람과 환경인 까닭은 사람과 환경이 불우의 대상이자 원인이기 때문이다. 허난설헌의 유선이 언제나 미완성의 하강으로 끝나는 이유도 여기에 있다.
Abstract
Heonanseolheon is evaluated as a woman writer who showed distinct writer consciousness under the order of Confucianism. In her Chinese poems, conflicts between self and world and the various responses about them is represented well. This paper aims at investigating the process to realize unfortunate consciousness. Yuseonsa is an object of this study. 'Unfortune' means 'didn't meet'. Therefore unfortunate consciousness has a difference according to what or who the object of meeting is. Yuseonsa isn't text that dreams of Seongye in order to look away and escape from dark reality. Seongye in Yuseonsa is the escapeway from reality. It is not only space to desire and escapeway in order to forget pain and trouble that are hard for her to control. The meaning of emotion is as important as Yuseon. Therefore it is focused on involved emotion and writer consciousness when Yuseonsa is analyzed. Emotional context in Yuseonsa is found through statistics and analysis of poetic-word. The selection of poetic-word set on the basis of the emotional contribution. This paper intends to find mechanism of creating meaning by suggesting a line which includes syllables in a poem. Heonanseolheon tried to overcome the lack of reality by representing emotion and desire as they are. The stronger the desire to overcome reality got, the stronger the oppression of society became. This motive is expressed by aiming for Seongye. It is interpreted as an attempt to transcend through emotional sink. Heonanseolheon who became a goddess in an ideal land enjoyed the placidity in Yuseonsa. It's certain that Yuseon is a fantasy world of Heonanseolheon. However, It's hard to assert that Heonanseolheon overcame the limit of reality through Yuseon. She dreamed of transcending reality, but she failed. She had to returned to reality. As a result, her sinking sensation got worse and side effect occurred. This side effect is the very unfortunate consciousness. The main theme in Yuseonsa is human and environment, which is the object and cause of unfortune. Therefore Yuseon of Heonanseolheon always ends up incompletion.
