여성경찰 연구동향 분석과 과제

An Analysis of Female Police Research Trends in Korean Journal Articles

초록

여성경찰이 전체 경찰에서 차지하는 비중이 15%에 달할 것으로 예상되는 시점에서 지금까지 국내에서 발표된 여성경찰 관련 연구들을 고찰하여 해당 연구의 경향을 분석하고 향후 전망과 과제에 대해 식별해 보았다. 학술데이터베이스 검색을 통해 총 59편의 학술논문을 확보했고, 이들을 세 시기로 구분하여 시기별 경향성을 함께 분석했다. 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 먼저, 한국에서 여성경찰은 2000년 처음으로 학술논문에서 다루어졌고, 2004년 이후 지속적으로 학계의 관심을 받고 있다. 다음으로, 여성경찰 연구는 단독연구(59.32%), 대학소속(79.66%), 그리고 남성(50.85%)이 중심이 되어 전개되었다. 이러한 연구자 특성은 경찰학 분야의 전반적인 양상과 유사하지만 동시에 여성 연구자 비율은 경찰학 일반 분야에 비해 상대적으로 높은 모습도 확인할 수 있다. 다음으로, 여성경찰 연구는 개념적 연구(54.24%)와 관계적 연구(44.07%)를 중심으로 이루어졌고, 초기에는 개념적 연구가 지배하였으나 최근에는 관계적 연구의 비중이 확대되고 있다. 이와 함께 연구방법 또한 서술적 연구 중심에서 계량적 연구가 지배하는 모습으로 변화되었다. 다음으로, 여성경찰 연구는 초기에 동원‧배치 분야가 집중적으로 주목되었고 이후 능력개발‧동기유발 분야로 관심이 이동하는 모습을 확인할 수 있다. 마지막으로, 연구자들은 여성경찰의 발달을 위해 시기에 따라 다양하고도 차별화된 개선방안들을 제시해 왔다. 한국에서의 여성경찰 연구는 시대적 관심과 요구를 반영하면서 여성경찰의 성장과 발전에 크게 기여한 것으로 평가할 수 있다. 이러한 분석결과를 바탕으로 향후 여성경찰 연구에서의 과제와 시사점을 살펴보았다.

Abstract

In this study, at a time when the proportion of female police officers is expected to reach 15% soon, journal articles on female police officers published in Korea so far were reviewed and analyzed. A total of 59 academic papers were secured through an academic database search, and the trends by period were analyzed together by dividing them into three periods. The summary of the analysis resuls is as follows. First, female police officers in Korea were first discussed in an academic paper in 2000, and have been continuously receiving attention from the academic world since 2004. Next, female police studies were developed centering on independent(one author) studies(59.32%), university affiliates(79.66%), and males(50.85%). These researcher characteristics are similar to the overall aspects of the police science field, but at the same time, the proportion of female researchers in relatively high compared to the general police science field. Next, female police studies were centered on conceptual studies(54.24%) and relational studies(44.07%). In the early days, conceptual studies dominated, but recently, the proportion of relational studies has been expanding. Along with this, the research method also changed from descrptive research to quantitative research. Next, in the study of female police officers, attention was focused on the field of mobilization and deployment in the early stage, and in can be seen that interest has shifted to the field of competency development and motivation. Laslty, researchers have suggested various and differentiated improvement plans depending on the period for the development of female police officers. Research on female police officers can be evaluated as contributing greatly to the growth and development of female police officers in Korea. Based on these analysis results, the implications of future female police research were examined.
