경찰학 연구의 다양성 변화: 연구자 특성을 중심으로

경찰학 연구의 경향성을 분석한 기존의 연구들은 학문의 정체성 확보와 균형적 발전에 기여한 점은 분명하지만, 분석의 대상과 시간적 범위의 설정에 다소 한계를 내포하고 있다. 이 연구는 한국연구재단에 등록된 학술지 중에서 10개를 선정하고 이 학술지를 통해 2007년과 2016년에 발간된 논문들을 분석하여 경찰학 분야 연구자의 다양성을 검증하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 연구의 결과, 연구의 유형에서 공동연구가 증가하였고, 연구자의 특성에서는 여성연구자와 비수도권 기관 소속 연구자의 참여가 증가한 점을 발견하였다. 이에 반해 저자의 직위에 있어서는 교수가 절대적으로 높은 우위를 점하고 있었다. 다만, 학생의 참여가 다소 증가한 점은 긍정적으로 판단된다. 이러한 양적 성장과 다양성의 변화는 고무적인 현상으로 보일 수 있으나, 연구 논문의 질적 수준에 대한 후속 연구를 통해 경찰학 연구의 경향성에 대한 체계적인 분석이 지속적으로 전개되어야 할 것이다.
Abstract
Prior studies on trends in police science research played a significant role in establishing academic identity and developing the balance in the area, but limitations exist in terms of limited targets of the analysis and the research design regarding time dimension. This study selected ten journals in the area, registered in the Korean Research Foundation and analyzed the articles published in 2007 and 2016 in order to examine changes in the diversity of author characteristics. As a result, it was found that the proportion of multiple-authored articles and female author articles had increased. In addition, scholars from regional institutions participated more while full-time professors were the most active participants compared to others including students, instructors, and nonacademic authors. This study found that research in this area had made significant improvements in diversity and quantitative aspects in police science research. However, further research are needed for the investigation of the qualitative changes in the area, and this will help developing systematic analyses of research trends in police science.
