필기잡록류 저술의 지리·지역 정보 활용 방안- 전북 지역을 중심으로 -

본 연구는 조선후기에 활발하게 창작된 필기잡록류 저술에서 확인할 수 있는 다양한 정보 가운데 지리·지역 정보를 수집하고, 이 정보를 활용할 수 있는 방안을 찾아내는 것을 목적으로 한다. 단, 본 연구에서는 주요 대상으로 삼은 자료의 성격을 감안하여 그 범위를 전북 지역으로 한정하고자 한다. 따라서 본고에서는 본격적인 논의보다는, 사례를 추출하고 각각의 사례가 갖는 의미가 무엇인지를 밝히는 데 주력하였다. 논의는 다음과 같은 순서로 진행하였다. 먼저 필기잡록류 저술에 수록된 정보 가운데 지리·지역 정보의 특색이 무엇인지를 밝히고, 이를 바탕으로 자료를 세 가지 성격으로 나누어 고찰하였다. 먼저 지역의 지명(地名)을 살펴보았는데, 구체적으로는 건물명(建物名), 사명(寺名)을 실례로 제시하였다. 다음으로는 지역의 인물을 살펴보았고, 이를 통해 기존에 잘 알려져 있지 않은 인물들을 새롭게 발굴할 수 있는 가능성을 모색해보았다. 끝으로 지역 내 풍속과 특산에 대해 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 오늘날까지도 잘 알려져 있는 지역 문화의 원형을 좀더 상세하게 재구성할 수 있을 것으로 보았다. 필기잡록류 저술의 특성상, 여기에 수록되어 있는 지리·지역 정보는 다른 종류의 저술에서 쉽게 확인할 수 없는 생생하고 구체적인 고급 지식인 경우가 많다. 향후 이러한 정보들을 새롭게 발굴하여 지역의 문화를 꼼꼼하게 재구성하고 새롭게 활용할 수 있는 가능성을 모색할 필요가 있을 것이다.
Abstract
In this paper, I examined the application plan of geographic intelligence from P’ilgi Chaprok(miscellaneous records) focusing on Honam province. I tried to introduce some examples and determine the meanings with those examples. First of all, I provide the characteristics of geographic intelligence from P’ilgi Chaprok. And based on this, I considered the materials divide into three groups. First, I studied the name of place such like a name of structure and temple. Second, I studied the historic figures of local area. With this, I seek for the possibility of find out new people who stayed out of the public eye. Third, I considered the local custom and specialty. I thought these information would contribute to reconstitute the local culture. As P’ilgi Chaprok contains lots of qualified intelligence, it provides meaningful knowledge relate to the local area. I believe we need to discover new informations from P’ilgi Chaprok. So that we can make the best use of such intelligence to rebuild local history and culture.
