『옥류동일기(玉流洞日記)』를 통해 본 근대전환기 젊은 유학자의 일상 경험과 세계 인식

Abstract

This paper is a study on the diary material 'Okryudong Ilgi' written by Jo Byeong-seok(趙秉錫, 1909～?), a Confucian scholar who lived during the Japanese colonial period. This diary is a record left by young Confucian scholar Jo Byeong-seok while he was staying at Okryujeongsa in Jeonju in 1927 for his studies in Geumjae Choi Byeong-shim. This diary contains vivid voices of the author's commitment to study while maintaining Confucian values amid the rapidly changing social and academic environment during the transition from the pre-modern period to the modern era. As this material is introduced to the academia for the first time, the bibliography of the material is first arranged. I first organized the bibliographical details of the material and looked at the characteristic features of the diary as a whole. Specifically, I tried to divide it into several categories, such as the content that the author places great importance on and meticulous attention to, topics that are repeatedly mentioned several times, and issues that can be given the significance of the times. The diary has a limitation in that it is not refined compared to other recording formats, but it has the advantage of conveying the author's voice relatively vividly. Paying attention to this fact, I tried to examine the worldview and perception of a young Confucian who lived in the period of modern transition through this diary.
