본 연구의 목적은 내러티브접근의 치료적 대화를 실천가 스스로 평가할 수 있는 도구를 개발하고 이를 실제 사례에 시험 적용한 결과를 제시함으로써, 내러티브접근의 자가평가 모형의 활용 가능성을 제시하는데 있다. 이를 위해, 본 연구에서는 호주 Dulwich 센터를 중심으로 하는 내러티브접근을 중심으로, 그에 대한 텍스트를 수집하고 그 중 내러티브접근의 첫 단계로 볼 수 있는 외현화대화를 설명하는 텍스트를 선정, 귀납적 범주개발절차를 활용하여 텍스트에 나타난 실천가의 주된 개입 내용을 요약하고 19개 범주로 유형화했다. 개발된 범주들을 바탕으로 코딩체계를 수립한 뒤, 전문가와 실습생이 각각 실시한 두 편의 외현화대화 텍스트에 대해 치료담화 분석을 실시했다. 연구 결과로 두 편의 텍스트를 코딩하고 시각자료화 하며 비교분석을 통해 실천을 평가하고 향후 다루어야 할 영역에 대한 전망이나 계획을 짚어보는 전 과정을 예시하였다. 이 같은 과정은 외현화대화가 재저작대화 등 다음 단계나 국면으로 이동하도록 하는데 유용한 실천 평가방법이 될 수 있다.
Abstract
This study piloted the usefulness of a new self-evaluation tool for reflecting on the practice of narrative family therapy. Drawing on various written descriptions of the narrative therapy approach, the author inductively derived 19 separate interventions and questions involved in externalizing conversations. These categories were then used to code two therapy-session transcripts involving externalization. The results of the study offer narrative therapists an alternative way of evaluating the effectiveness of their practice.
