『龍西稿』 異本 硏究

龍西 柳基一(1845～1904)은 유중교가 이항로의 心說을 문제를 제기한 이후 화서학파가 실질적으로 양분되자 홍재구와 함께 김평묵의 입장을 적극적으로 지지한 대표적 인물이다. 특히 유기일은 유중교, 유인석과 격한 논쟁을 유발한 장본인이고 화서학파의 중요 인물 중 한명이다. 본고는 유기일의 저술을 추적하던 중 그의 문집 『龍西稿』이 불확실한 모습으로 출간된 상황을 접하고 원고본, 혹은 整本 『龍西稿』의 소재를 확인하였다. 후손가에 전해졌던 온전한 원고본과 유기일의 충실한 문인에 의해 整本된 『龍西稿』가 존재했지만 아쉽게도 화재와 전쟁, 후손가의 매도, 폐기로 유실되었고 앞으로도 발견될 가능성은 희박함을 확인했다. 그리고 1997년 포천문화원에서 간행된 『龍西稿』는 매우 불완전한 『龍西稿』임을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 현존하는 국내 『龍西稿』는 완전한 형태의 자료로 남아 있지 않고 殘本, 零本 형태로 전해지고 있었지만 각 소장처의 존재 여부도 학계에 보고되지 않았다. 그러므로 이번 연구를 통해 각 소장처의 『龍西稿』의 현황을 밝혀졌고 나아가 지금까지 소재가 밝혀지지 않았던 하버드대학교 옌칭도서관에 소장된 『龍西稿』를 처음 밝혔다. 하버드대학교 소장본은 최소 1962년 이전에 반출되었을 것으로 짐작되고 국내에 소장된 『龍西稿』와 중복이 되지 않는 새로운 자료로 다른 국내 소장처의 본과 다르게 체계적인 문집 형태를 보이며 새로운 원고본 『龍西稿』임을 밝혔다. 이 자료는 稀貴本일 뿐 아니라 그 가치도 매우 높이 평가 될 수 있을 것이다. 기존 간행된 『龍西稿』와 연세대학교, 한국학중앙연구원, 고려대학교, 하버드대학교에 소장된 『龍西稿』를 종합하여 整本한다면 그동안 散失되거나 燒失된 원고본 『龍西稿』를 복원하거나 대처할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구를 바탕으로 整本된 『龍西稿』의 탄생을 기대할 수 있으며 용서 유기일과 관련된 연구와 화서학파의 김평묵 계열 문인들의 활발한 연구와 확산을 기약할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This paper aims to study Yoo Ki-il`s writings. Yoo Ki-il is an important disciple of the Hwaseo School. The Hwaseo School, that advocated Simjuriseol(心主理說). After Yoo Jonggyo raised the issue of Lee Hang-ro, the Hwaseo School were practically divided into two groups. Yoo defended his former teacher, Kim Pyong-mook(金平默). As such, he is one of the most important disciples in the Hwaseo School. The collection of Yongsoo’s literary works, Yongseogo(龍西稿), is not accurate at the moment. Recently, a collection of his literary works was published by his descendants. However, the book looks incomplete. The reason is that the manuscripts preserved by his descendants do not remain for many reasons. The study identifies the whereabouts of the manuscripts of Yongseogo(龍西稿). However, his literary works are housed in the three locations in Korea: Korea University, Yonsei University, The Academy of Korean Studies. There are five types of manuscripts in all three parts of the country. However, Yongseogo(龍西稿) is also housed in the most complete form at the Yenching Library of Harvard University. The Harvard University collection is believed to have been taken out at least before 1962. This data is preserved at the local Yongseogo(龍西稿) and new data that does not become redundant. Unlike the edition of its local collection, the data showed a systematic style of writing and revealed that it is a new manuscript. From this study, the following conclusions can be reached: The collection of materials from the existing publication Yongseogo(龍西稿) and the three national collections should be combined with those from Harvard University. From this study, the following conclusions were reached: It should be combined with five existing published collections of pubs and three national universities and materials from Harvard University. Reference should be made to the already published Yongseogo(龍西稿) and the following materials. It is necessary to put together five materials collected in domestic universities and collected at Harvard University. This study has given a chance to restore his Yongseogo(龍西稿).
