<한국 역대 한자자형 자전 DB>를 활용한한국의 한자자형 변화 연구 -強ㆍ溫ㆍ冊ㆍ峯ㆍ豐을 중심으로-

Abstract

If we look at the variation of Chinese characters in Korea, with the factors of synchrony and diachrony, as well as regional information, we can get a clearer understanding of the characters used in Korea. However, as noted, the long history of Chinese character usage and the volume of literature written in Chinese characters make it very difficult to organize all the images of Chinese character shapes that have appeared in texts. This paper aims to provide a three-dimensional view of the evolution of character shapes in Korea by utilizing an organized database of the character shape and OCR of ancient texts. We examine the changes in character shape through the ages by examining the shape of metal type and the shape of woodblock type, analyzing use by region and era. This study not only investigates changes in character styles as a whole, but also the relationship between the national character style and the actual character styles in circulation, through the comparison of metal types and wood block types. In addition, this study seeks to provide a meaningful basis for the current standardization of Chinese characters, prove the academic utility of the Chinese character database, and demonstrate the need to upgrade the Chinese character database.
