Abstract
This research describes my fieldwork experience as a native anthropologist in transnational space. Based on approaches of Narayan(1993) and Kuwayama (2003), more specifically, the paper endeavors to answer two questions: how I could be defined by research subjects(Indonesian and Korean) within Wongok-Dong; how I responded and compromised toward to my identities that are produced by research subjects. The answers are as follow; Due to my identities such as Korean outsider and social staus, basically, research subjects kept their distance from me. To overcome this, I have to rearrange my positionalities to meet various situations. In this effort, I realized that research subjects made a third position through transnational characteristics of the town. In this respect, they were neither native nor non-native in the field. They are 'Wongok-Dong People' who had shared experiences of new social order and cultural-hybridity in Wongok-Dong. Hence, this research may contribute to give a cornerstone to understand concept of native anthropologist in transnational space.
