초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the value chain types of sesame seeds in major Asian countries, to estimate and compare each country’s added value generated by sesame seeds import and export according to the three scenarios, and to explore ways for cooperation to form a good sesame seeds industrial value chain in ASEAN based on this. As a result of the analysis, the sesame seeds’ value chain types of major Asian countries were divided into Import-Export (China), Import-Processing-Export (Japan, Singapore), Production-Export (Myanmar), Import- Consumption-Export (Korea, Vietnam) amid a recent marked change in the structure of the world sesame seeds production and import and export. Based on the analysis of the scenario assuming intermediary trade that re-exports affordable imported sesame seeds or sesame oil and processing trade that processes imported sesame seeds into sesame oil, there are differences in the added value generated by each country. It is because the sesame seeds’ value chain types are different to maximize the creation of added value by country.
