초록

고도로 산업화된 현대 사회에서 재난, 사고에서의 현장 활동을 하는 소방 공무원의 역할은 점차 증가 되었고, 외상적 사건을 빈번하게 경험할 가능성도 함께 증가 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 정서조절곤란이 소방공무원의 외상 후 스트레스 증상에 미치는 영향에서 조직근거 자기 존중감의 조졀효과를 파악하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 현재 강원, 경기도에서 근무하는 소방공무원 478명을 대상으로 하였다. 자기보고식 설문조사에서는 정서조절 곤란, 외상 후 스트레스 장애, 조직근거 자기 존중감을 측정하는 문항들을 포함하였다. 주요 연구결과를 요약하면 정서조절곤란이 외상 후 스트레스 증상에 미치는 영향에서 조직 근거 자기 존중감의 조절효과가 유의하였다. 즉, 정서조절곤란과 외상 후 스트레스 증상 간의 관계에서 조직근거 자기존중감의 수준에 따라 외상 후 스트레스 장애 증상 수준이 달라지는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 즉, 정서조절 곤란이 심할 때 외상 후 스트레스 장애 증상을 쉽고 강력하게 경험하지만 조직근거 자기 존중감이 높을수록 외상 후 스트레스 장애 증상이 완화 될 수 있다는 것을 의미한다. 마지막으로 본 연구결과의 의의와 제한점, 앞으로의 연구 방향에 대해 논의하였다.

Abstract

In today’s highly industrialized society, the role of firefighters in disasters and accidents are gradually increasing, and the likelihood of frequently experiencing traumatic events is on the rise. The purpose of this study was to investigate the moderating effect of organization-based self-esteem on emotional regulation difficulties in post-traumatic stress symptoms among firefighters. The subjects of this study were 478 firefighters working in the Gangwon and Gyeonggi provinces. Self-report questionnaires to measure difficulties in emotional regulation, post-traumatic stress disorder, and organization-based self-esteem were utilized. Primary results are as follows: The moderating effect of organization-based self-esteem significantly impacted difficulties in emotional regulation of post-traumatic stress symptoms. In other words, while the effect of difficulties in emotional regulation on post-traumatic stress symptoms is positive when the organization-based self-esteem is high, if the organization-based self-esteem is low, it does not help the post-traumatic stress symptoms of firefighters. Implications, limitations, and future research directions are discussed.
