Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of social support provided to mothers of mentally retarded children on their psychological wellbeing in an effort to pave the way for the improvement of their psychological wellbeing. There are some suggestions about the enhancement of the psychological wellbeing of mothers whose children suffer from mental retardation: First, various kinds of educational backing should be offered. Second, psychological and emotional support should be provided by encouraging the mothers to get together to take their own self-help to a new level, and there should be a close tieup with relevant organizations to make it happen as well. Finally, a wide variety of information should provided on the development of disabled children's vocational potentials, aptitude and interest in order to ensure their independent life.
