사회적 지지가 장애아동 어머니의 심리적 복지에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 장애아동 어머니의 심리적 복지에 영향을 미치는 사회적 지지 유형을 구체적으로 파악하고자 대구․경북 지역에 위치한 복지관 및 특수학교에 등록한 136명의 장애아동 어머니를 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 조사 결과, 가족의 경제적 수준과 장애아동 어머니의 사회활동 참여가 장애아동 어머니가 인지하는 사회적 지지와 심리적 복지 수준에 유의한 차이를 보였으며, 또한, 장애아동 어머니의 심리적 복지를 설명하는 중요한 변인으로 나타났다. 장애아동 어머니의 심리적 복지에 영향을 미치는 사회적지지 유형에서는 구체적으로 유형적 지지와 평가적 지지가 삶의 만족도를, 유형적 지지와 소속 지지가 우울증을 예측하는데 있어서 가장 중요한 요인으로 파악되었으며, 결과적으로, 유형적 지지가 장애아동 어머니의 심리적 복지 수준을 설명하는 가장 중요한 변인으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과는 다양한 양육 스트레스에 노출되어 있으며, 장애아동의 양육과 발달에 지대한 영향을 미치는 어머니의 심리적 복지에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 적절한 사회적 지지 유형의 필요성을 강조함으로써, 궁극적으로 장애아동을 위한 교육에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of social support types on psychological well-being of mothers of the children with disabilities. For the purpose of the study, the survey was conducted and 136 mothers of disabled children who registered at Special Education Institute and Social Welfare Agencies for the Disabled located in Taegu and Kyongbook Province participated. The result of the study indicated that families' social economic status and mothers' involvements of social life made statistically significant differences in the level of social supports and the levels of psychological well-being of mothers such as life satisfaction and depression. Families' economic status and mothers' involvement of social life were also significant predictors in explaining mothers' life satisfaction and depression. In terms of social supports, tangible supports and appraisal supports were the strongest predictors in explaining mothers' level of life satisfaction and tangible supports and belonging supports were significant predictors in depression. After all, tangible supports seemed to be the most significant predictor in explaining mothers' level of psychological well-being regarding life satisfaction and depression. Mothers' psychological well-being related to the types of social support are discussed based on the findings of the study. In addition, implications for the disabled children and family welfare services as well as further study are provided.
