Abstract

This study aimed to validate the Korean version of the Intentional Peer Support Core Competencies (IPSCC-K) Scale, originally developed by Penney, Ostrow, and Burke-Miller in 2021. The scale was translated into Korean and back-translated into English to ensure accuracy. A sample of 157 individuals with mental health problems was recruited from psychiatric rehabilitation facilities, hospital, and online communities. Confirmatory factor analysis supported a hierarchical factor model comprising three factors and 10 items, which were consistent with the original scale. Concurrent validity and convergent validity were established through correlation tests using the Korean version of the Scale to Assess the Therapeutic Relationship, the Mental Health Recovery Measure, and the Meaning in Life Questionnaire. The internal consistency reliability on scores of the IPSCC-K was found to be acceptable at .94. The study discussed the implications and limitations of the research as well as provided suggestions for future studies.
