Q모집단으로부터 Q표본 구성 과정에 대한 분석: 학술지 주관성 연구 게재 논문을 중심으로(1996∼2014)

이 연구의 목적은 일반화 가능성, 신뢰도와 타당도 문제에 대한 Q연구자의 대응 유형과 의미를 구체화하는 데에 있다. 연구 목적 달성을 위해 연구 문제와 관련된 이론의 개입 정도, 그리고 연구 수행과정에서 연구자 주도의 수준을 기준으로 다섯 개의 유형을 설정하고, 한국주관성연구학회의 학술지 주관성 연구의 1996년 창간호부터 가장 최근인 2014년 12월 발간 29호까지 총 221편의 논문을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 먼저 비구조화 Q표본이 구조화 Q표본에 비해 더 많이 활용되고 있었다. 이는 Q표본 도출 과정에서 이론의 개입 정도 보다는 타인의 관점 반영이 주관성 연구를 통해 논문을 게재한 Q연구자의 주요 관심사였다는 것을 의미한다. 다음으로 Q방법론은 범주화의 시점, 인터뷰의 유형과 적용 등에 있어서 질적 연구의 전통과는 다른 고유한 연구 방식을 채택하고 있다. Q방법론의 이론과의 차이로는 이론적으로 강조된 것에 비해 신뢰도 확보 절차에 대한 노력이 구체적으로 드러나지 않았다고 판단된다. 타인의 관점으로는 전문가 집단에 의한 동료 검토가 많이 활용되고 있으며, Q표본 도출 방법 중 주체별 체계적 표집과 단순 무작위 표집의 활용이 저조한 것으로 나타났다. 분석 결과를 토대로 Q방법론 연구의 효과적인 수행을 위한 가이드라인의 활용, 그리고 Q모집단에서 Q표본을 도출하는 과정에 한정해 타당도라는 표현의 대안 모색을 제안하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to specify how Q researchers handle the issue of generalizability, reliability, and validity in their own Q research and its meaning. For the purpose, the author considered the five types based on the degree of theoretical dependency and researcher autonomy. Total of 221 papers published in the Journal of Korean Society for the Scientific Study of Subjectivity from 1996 to 2014 were analyzed in the current study. Findings are as follows; at first, unstructured Q sampling was used more than structured one. This implies the Q researchers’ main interests were researcher autonomy (i.e. considering other person’s opinion) rather than theoretical dependency on the transition from Q population to Q sample. Next, Q methodology adopts the authentic research procedures in that it differs from the traditions of qualitative data analysis concerning the starting point of developing categories, the types of interview and its applications. The gap between theoretical guidelines of Q methodology and Q methodological research papers lie in performing actions for acquiring the reliability doing Q methodology. The way considering the other person’s opinion was mainly with peer review. Systematic sampling and simple random sampling were relatively less used in constructing final Q sample. Based upon findings, the author suggests the application of Q methodological research guidelines ensuring effective doing Q research and the adoption of alternative term as to validity on the transition from Q population to Q sample.
