언론상에 대한 취재기자들의 주관성 연구: ‘이달의 기자상’을 중심으로

본 연구는 Q 방법론을 활용하여 한국의 대표적인 언론상인 ‘이달의 기자상’에 대해 일선 취재기자들이 어떻게주관적으로 인식하고 있는지 유형화하고 각 유형의 특성과 유형간 유사성과 차이점에 대해서 분석하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구결과 취재기자들의 ‘이달의 기자상’에 대한 인식은 총 3가지 유형으로 분류되었다. 제1유형은언론상에 대한 “적극적 사회개혁형”으로 수상작은 사회가 당면해 있는 현실 문제를 정확하게 직시하고 이끌어야 한다고 인식하고 있었다. 이 유형은 전체 응답자의 47.5%를 차지했다. 제2유형은 언론상에 대한 “냉소적 활용형”으로 언론상 선정과정이나 절차에 대해서는 비판적이지만 현실적으로는 유용하다는 인식을 가지고 있었다. 이 유형은 전체 응답자의 30%를 차지했다. 제3유형은 언론상의 “실무적 현장중심형”으로 기자의 직접 발굴노력과 시간적 특종을 통해 권력형 비리를 파헤치고 사회문제의 대안을 모색해야 한다는 인식을 가지고 있었다. 향후 다양한 언론상 연구를 통해 변화하는 저널리즘에 관한 인식을 파악하여 좋은 저널리즘 구현을 위한 방안을마련해야 할 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to classify how reporters subjectively perceive Korea’s most prominent press award, the ‘Reporter of the Month’ through Q methodology and to analyze similarities and differences of each type. Finding indicates that, reporters’ perception on the award is categorized into three types. Type 1 is “Positive Social Reform,” who believes prize winning articles should directly face the social issue and promote the change. This type is accounted for 47% of all respondents. Type 2 is “Cynical Application,” who assumes a critical attitude on the award’s choice and process but understands its practicality. 30% of respondents posit this type of perception. Type 3 is “Practical Field-oriented,” who understands its role as a firsthand explorer of power-related corruption and a solution provider for the issue.
