캐나다 과학수사 교육과정의 시사점 -연방경찰과 대학교육과정을 중심으로-

Abstract

Recently, finding the truth on criminal cases through the scientific investigations and due process becomes more important than any other occasions. In Korea, for the purpose of effective resolving various cases, the forensic science and identification training for the police officers should be encouraged more often. So, criminalist and forensic experts are needed to solve complex cases and scientific identification in the crime laboratory. Furthermore, the educational programs on forensic science at the university level is also required. Providing the Korean Police with advanced ideas, Canadian experiences on the forensic identification training programs at the police academy and universities like BCIT, Univ. of Toronto, and SFU are presented in details. Particularly, in terms of the forensic identification training, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Vancouver Police are respected role models to the Korean police. Through this work, many alternatives will be suggested for a better policing and scientific investigation in Korea to have a safer society.
