경찰관의 직무스트레스가 행복감에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

초록

본 연구는 경찰관의 직무 스트레스가 그들의 행복감에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 파악하여, 직무 스트레스를 완화하고 행복감을 증진시킬 수 있는 요인이 무엇인지 규명하는 데 궁극적인 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위하여 **도 지방경찰청·각 경찰서·지구대·파출소에서 기능별 업무를 담당하고 있는 경찰공무원 1859명을 대상으로 하여 자료를 수집하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 경찰관의 직무 스트레스, 즉, 직무 요구, 직무 통제, 사회적 지지는 중간 수준 정도를 보이고 있다. 둘째, 직무 스트레스 집단 간 차이에 따른 행복감 정도를 살펴본 결과, 직무 요구가 낮고, 직무 통제가 낮으며, 사회적 지지가 높은 집단이 더 높은 행복감을 인식하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 직무 관련 객관적 특성변수와 직무 스트레스가 행복감에 미치는 상대적 영향력을 파악해본 결과, 사회적 지지 및 근속년수, 근무 방식이 행복감에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과에 근거하여, 경찰관의 직무 스트레스를 경감시키고 행복감 및 복지감을 증진시키기 위해서는 경찰 조직 내 동료 및 상사와의 관계에서 사회적 지지를 보다 강화시키고 도모할 수 있는 프로그램이 마련되어야 할 것이다. 뿐만 아니라, 스트레스 대처 및 관리를 넘어 문제를 인식하고 예방을 할 수 있는 직무스트레스의 긍정적이고 적극적인 개입을 복지차원에서 실행할 수 있는 행복 지원 One Stop 시스템구축 제안하고자 한다. 이를 실행하기 위해서는 우선 정책실무자, 경찰상급자의 인식의 전환이 절대적으로 필요하다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of job stress on happiness of police officers. The data was collected from 1859 police officers in Gyeonggi-do. All the respondents in Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency, police stations, patrol divisions, and police substations were asked to answer the self-reporting questionnaires. The analysis includes frequencies, means, t-test, and hierarchical multiple regression models. The major findings are as follows. 1) The level of job stress is near the average. 2) The police officers feel happier when they have less job demands, job control, and more social support. 3) The sub-scales of job stress having significant effects on the happiness are 'social support'. Besides social support, the duration and the working type(working inside or outside) have significant effect on the happiness. The finding of this study suggests that a program for promoting happiness and well-being by reinforcing the social support and human resources in the police organization should be developed. And we propose One Step system construction to practice affirmative and active intervention of job stress. When the system is established, they can perceive and prevent job stress beyond coping and managing stress. To realize this, it is absolutely necessary to shift a paradigm of policy managers and senior police officers.
