미국 공통핵심기준(Common Core Standards)의 내용 제시 방식 고찰－쓰기 영역을 중심으로－

이 논문에서는 미국의 국어과 공통핵심기준의 주요 특징을 살펴보고, 우리나라의 국어과 교육과정에 참고할만한 시사점을 찾고자 하였다. 이를 위해 국어과 공통핵심기준의 특징을 살펴보았다. 그리고 쓰기 영역을 예로 들어 내용 조직의 위계성과 내용 진술 방식 측면에서 우리나라 국어과 교육과정과 비교해 보았다. 첫째, 공통핵심기준의 전체 구성상의 두드러진 특징으로는 1) 범교과 문식성을 위한 기준이 공식화되어 있다는 점, 2) 수많은 연구와 자료에 의해 뒷받침된 풍부한 부록을 함께 제공하고 있다는 점이다. 둘째, 내용 조직의 위계성 측면에서, 내용 체계의 상위 범주와 하위 범주의 위계가 모든 학년의 성취기준에 일관성 있게 나타나 있다. 그리고 내용 체계에 최종 성취 기준을 함께 제시하고 있으며 학습자의 발달 수준에 맞게 상세화하고 정교화해서 이를 계열성 있게 배열하고 있었다. 마지막으로, 내용 진술 방식 측면에서, 공통핵심기준에서는 대표 성취기준과 세부 성취기준을 하나의 세트로 묶어서 진술하고 있다. 이를 통해 내용 진술의 명료성, 구체성, 풍부성을 확보하고 있다.
Abstract
In this paper, I examine the major features for the Common Core State Standards of the United States and find the implications to refer to the Korean language curriculum. First, the distinctive features of the Common Core State Standards 1) The reading and writing standards for literacy containing all the range of curriculum is formalized as a core standards. 2) It provides rich appendix supported by numerous studies. Second, in terms of hierarchy of contents organization, in the Common Core State Statement, the hierarchy of superordinate category and sub-categories appear consistently on the basis of fulfillment of all the grades. Finally, in terms of stating the contents, Common Core State Standards stated the major accomplishment standards and detailed accomplishment standards by linking them together. Through this, it secured the perspicuity, concreteness and abundance of the statements.
