새로운 부정(문) 유형 분류와 그 언어학적 함의

본고에서는 대표적인 국어 문법서를 중심으로 국어 부정(문) 유형 분류를 검토하여 두 논제를 설정하였고, 이에 대해 논의하였다. 첫 번째 논제, ‘말다’ 부정문의 정체성을 확인하기 위해 범언어적인 관점의 부정 명령문에 대해 고찰하였고, 두 번째 논제, 통사적 부정(문)과 어휘적 부정(문)에 관련된 ‘부정문 성립 여부의 검증’ 등을 살펴보았다. 이를 토대로 다음과 같은 새로운 부정문 유형 분류 및 그 세부 내용을 제시하였다. 첫째 기존 ‘통사적 부정(문)’보다는 부정 어휘로 형성되는 ‘어휘적 부정(문)’에 대응되는 ‘문법적 부정(문)’이라는 분류 용어를 사용할 것을 제안하였다. 둘째 장형 부정과 단형 부정의 경우 폐기하기보다는 2차적 하위 부류 유형으로 제시하였다. 셋째, 문법적 부정도 부정소 종류에 따른 부류와 문장 유형에 따른 부류로 세부적으로 구별하였다. 넷째, 통사적 부정문 유형 분류는 부정극어와의 호응 여부보다는 부정소 결합 여부를 중심으로 준거되어야 한다는 점을 명확히 하였다. 다섯째, 공시적, 범언어적인 특성도 고려하여 ‘아니다’를 통사적 부정(문)보다는 어휘적 부정(문)으로 보아야 한다고 주장하였다.
Abstract
This paper examines the classification terms of Korean negative types in the recent grammar references and exhibit two topics, (1) the negation of imperatives from the language-universal viewpoints as to examine the status of ‘malta’ negation, (2) the verification of negatives regarding the classification type of syntactic negation and lexical negation. Based on the examinations of these topics, the new classification of Korean negative types are proposed like these. First, instead of syntactic negation, the grammatical negation is suggested, which includes syntactic and morphological elements and reasonably corresponds to lexical negation. Second, the short form and long form negation are established in the secondary classification type of Korean negation, rather than eliminated. Third, grammatical negations are sub-classified according to the kinds of negator and sentence types. Fourth, the classification of syntactic negation must be decided by the combination of negator, not co-occurrence with negative polarity item. Fifth, the ‘anita’ must be classified as lexical negation, not syntactic negation from the synchronic and language-universal viewpoints.
