본 연구는 OECD 국가의 집합적 삶의 만족도 수준이 출산율에 미치는 영향력을 살펴본탐색적 연구이다. OECD 자료를 투입하여 분위회귀분석을 실시한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전반적인 삶의 만족도 수준은 중간수준의 출산율을 유의하게 설명하였다. 둘째, 출산이빈번하게 발생하는 연령대인 25-34세의 삶의 만족도 수준은 출산율과 유의한 상관을 보이지않았다. 반면에, 35-49세의 삶의 만족도는 중간수준의 출산율을 유의하게 설명하였다. 셋째, 여성의 집합적 삶의 만족도는 중간 수준의 출산율을 유의하게 설명하였지만, 남성의 집합적 삶의 만족도는 중간 수준뿐만 아니라 낮은 수준의 출산율과도 관련성을 보였다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 추구 연구 방향과 정책적 개입을 제시하였다.
Abstract
This study aims to examine the impact of life satisfaction on the birth rates at the national level. For this, it used data of OECD countries. Main findings are as follows: first, overall life satisfaction explained the birth rates at the median level. Second, while life satisfaction of the age group between 25 and 34 did not explain any level of birth rates, that of the age group between 35 and 49 showed a significant relationship with birth rates at the median level. Third, while life satisfaction of the female explained the median level of birth rates, that of the male positively related with both lower quartile and median birth rates. Based on these findings, future research directions and policy implications were suggested.
