러시아 사회주의의 몰락과 함께 자본주의 대안으로서 사회주의는 폐기된 것 일까? 이 물음에 대한 힌트를 우리는 카우츠키와 볼셰비즘간의 논쟁에서 얻을 수 있다. 힌트의 핵심은 애초 자본주의의 대안이었던 사회주의의 본질이 민주주의에 있다는 점이다. 카우츠키는 이 본질이 볼셰비즘에 의해 독재의 개념으로 전환되었고 독재와 사회주의는 양립할 수 없는 개념이기 때문에 볼셰비키혁명의 붕괴는 필연적이라고 예언하였다. 역사는 그의 예언을 입증하였고 러시아 사회주의의 몰락은 사회주의의 몰락이 아니라 볼셰비즘의 몰락일 뿐이며 사회주의의 과학성을 다시 한번 확인시켜 주는 것이다. 자본주의에 대한 대안 개념에 목말라 하는 21세기의 현재에 우리가 역사로부터 대안의 유산을 찾아보려 한다면 거기에는 카우츠키가 일찍이 볼셰비즘의 오염으로부터 지켜내려고 하였던 고전적 사회주의, 즉 민주주의에 토대를 둔 맑스주의가 자리하고 있다는 것을 알 수 있다. 이 글은 카우츠키와 볼셰비즘간의 논쟁을 통해서 제2인터내셔널 시기의 고전적 맑스주의를 볼셰비즘으로부터 분리시켜 애초의 자본주의적 대안 개념으로 재정립해야 한다고 주장한다.
Abstract
Is the socialism as an alternative to capitalism thrown away with the collapse of Russian socialism. We can find a due to the answer of this question in the controversy between Kautsky and Bolshevism. The key lies in the fact that the essence of the socialism as an alternative to capitalism is democracy Kautsky predicted that Bolshevism was destined to collapse because it distorted this essence into dictatorship His prediction was proved co truth and we can make sure that the collapse of Russian socialism means the one of Bolshevism, not of socialism. Now If we want to find an alternative co current neo-liberal capitalism in the storage of the historical heritage, we can get it in the pre-Bolshevist socialism, so called classical Marxism, which Kautsky tried to protect from the Bolshevist distortion This paper argues to isolate the classical Marxism from Bolshevism and to reestablish it as an alternative to capitalism
