Abstract
This paper discusses how the currency exchange rates are determined in light of Marx's value theory. The value of domestic currency and that of foreign currency are explained in terms of the acquisition cost theory of value. The latter theory is applied to the values of those commodities which are not producible with any part of current social labor. No matter even though speculative demands determine the current market values of those commodities. The reason is explained in view of the distinction between the principle of asset market value determination and that of the ordinary commodity market value determination. How a social overhead cost is financed explains how pure circulation (or transaction) cost of commodity production influences the commodity values as well as money values.
