현재에 이르러 젊은 세대들은 대한민국의 건국 과정은 커녕, 수백만 조부모 세대의목숨이 희생되었던 6·25전쟁의 내용과 의미를 모르고 있다. 이러한 상황은 현재 우리가 직면하고 있는 국론분열과 남북관계의 문제점과 근본적 맥이 닿아 있다는 점에서 중요하지 않을 수 없다. 따라서 현재의 대한민국이 있게 된 건국의 과정에서 가장 중요한 역할을 담당했던 초대 대통령 이승만의 국가관에 대해 검토해 보는 것은 많은 의미를 지닌다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 문제의식에 근거해 본 연구에서는 우리나라 근현대사에 있어 괄목할만한 정치적 행적을 남긴 이승만의 국가관에 대한 상징적 분석을 시도해 보고자 하였다. 이를 통해 이승만은 우리나라 현대사에서 어떤 인물로 인식되고 있는지, 또 그의 국가관에 대한 상징적 해석이 대한민국 국가정체석의 확립이라는 이데올로기와 어떤 연관성을 갖는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구는 대한민국 현대사에 대한 국민적 합의와 이에 대한 올바른 교육, 그리고 이를 바탕으로 한 국민통합이 시급한 국가적 과제라는 점에서 매우 중요한 의미를 지닌다. 따라서 이승만의 국가관이 지니는 관념적 상징성은 간단하게 ‘자유민주주의’와 ‘반공사상’으로 요약할 수 있다. 이는 대한민국 건국 이후 60여 년 동안 지속적으로 자유민주주의 국가 대한민국이 존재하고 발전해 온 기초석이 되었음은 물론이다. 이러한 점에서 이승만이 신생국 대한민국에 민주주의 제도의 정착과 자유로운 경쟁을 통한 시장경제체제의 확립을 공고히 한 최초의 대통령이었음은 부정할 수 없다.
Abstract
This study examines the problem of the symbolical interpretation of theconsciousness of the Republic of Syngman Rhee. And it also has a goal tounderstand the importance and necessity of the consciousness of the Republic ofthe first President of the Republic of Korea, which is the first experience in thehistory of the nation of Korea. Through this analysis be expanded new positiveinterpretation in place of the existing universal negative assessment about him.Now many believe that some of his political failures, for a typical example,'3`15 election fraud', were forced to rebuild the country after the Korean War,since those times was the exclusive territorial situation for the Republic ofKorea. Of course, this does not perfect analysis about consciousness of theRepublic of the President Rhee, rather it is inclined to reflect conservative viewsof korean society. However, build democratic institutions and successfuleconomical reform, which is based of a market economic system, are veryimportant to the success washed away "industrialization" and "democracy" in thehistory of the Republic of Korea. In addition, he managed international politics,particularly with the U. S. A, perform a huge national interest in realization offreedom and equality in Korean society, which was a lot of discrimination underthe influence of Confucianism in a long time. Therefore, understandingconsciousness of the Republic of president Syngman Rhee allows us aggrandize"national identity", which is of great importance for the development of anycountry. At this point, researches on the consciousness of the Republic ofPresident Syngman Rhee is an important issue.
