본 연구는 청소년 대상 나라사랑 교육의 효과 검증하는데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 나라사랑 교육에 참여하는 학생들이 나라사랑 활동에 대한 향후 실천의지에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 구조방정식 모형을 통해 검증하였다. 이를 통해, 나라사랑 교육에 참여한 학생들의 추가적인 실천행동의지는 자신과 타인에 대한 자긍의식, 군입대를 포함한 국가공동체 참여의식, 그리고 국가공동체의 유지에 필요한 다양한 활동의 상대적 중요도에 의해 결정된다는 점을 확인하였다. 특히 나라사랑 교육 활동에 참여함으로써 얻는 변화된 의식은 자신의 추후 행동의 실천 가능성을 높이는 요인으로 작용한다는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 점은 나라사랑 교육이 참여 학생들의 의식과 행동의지를 긍정적으로 바꿀 수 있는 가능성을 높일 것이라는 점에서 의미를 갖는다. 이러한 연구결과를 통해 미래 세대들에 대한 나라사랑 교육의 방향성을 모색하는데 필요한 정책적 시사점을 논의하였다. 첫째, 나라사랑 교육은 조기교육이 중요하며, 어려서부터 지속적으로 시행되어야 한다. 둘째, 나라사랑 교육은 학생들을 대상으로 하는 교육만으로는 한계가 있어 학부모, 교사 등 주변인에 대한 교육 강화가 필요하다. 셋째, 나라사랑 교육은 교육을 받은 즉시 그 효과가 나타나는 것이 아니라 지속적인 교육과 관련 행위에 대한 지속적인 접촉을 통해서만 체화될 수 있다. 넷째, 학생뿐만이 아니라 일반인들까지 참여할 수 있는 지역자원을 활용한 지역특색에 맞는 교육이 필요하다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the patriotismprogram which was implemented for the young school age adolescents For this,this study conducted a series of the perception surveys targeted to those whoattended the program and those not. The methodology used for the analysis arethe mean difference test and the structrual equation modeling analysis. Themodel this study tested in terms of student’s perception toward the nationconsists of the factors such as the degree of self esteem, the attitude tovoluntary participation, and the will to be part of the societal action. Aparticular emphasis is given to the changes in perception due to the programparticipation and its effect on the attitude on the future action for the society.According to the result of the response analysis, this study finds that theattitude on the future action the students may take for the society is in factdetermined by the degree to which they find their self esteem, the degree towhich they value the various patriotic actions and the degree to which they areaffect by the program they participated. In fact, this study finds big differencesin perception about the various isses that are related to the patriotic behaviorsbetween those who attended the program and those not. This study concludesthat the program implemented by the Institute does have strong positive effecton the student attitude toward the society and the nation overall. With that thisstudy suggests the following policy recommendations for furthering the program.The educational program as such needs to target young students. Second, thesubject and its contents need to be set up appropriately to the levels of theknowledge and age of the students. Third. the program may be extended tothose of teachers and parent because they are ones who effectively persuadethem in knowledge and behavior.
