Abstract
This paper tries to reorganize studies about the technological effects of media with three dimensions; mental structure, social practice, and power, which are suggested by Carey to understand the nature of communication. In communication study, most researches on the effects of mass media have focused on the message and audience while little attention has been given the media technology itself. Little effort also has been made to organize the technological effects of media within the systematic framework. Three dimensions showed us the impact of communication technologies on the human mind, social practice and the elites' domination over other humans.
