Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to construct the consumer's HVM(Hierarchical Value Map) about digital camera and film camera, and to understand the consumer. The research questions are to test the association among levels of Means-end chain theory, and to construct each HVM about Digital camera and Film camera. The method of research is APT laddering which is evaluated with a new laddering technique, and data was collected from 189 respondents. The results of this study run as follows: a) the most important the association among levels about digital camera is <carrying camera-convenience> association in attribute-functional consequence level, <having better picture-satisfaction of taking photograph> association in functional consequence-psychological consequence level, and <satisfaction of taking photograph-accomplishment> association in psychological consequence-value level. And the most important the association among levels about film camera is <size and weight of camera-convenience> association in attribute-functional consequence level, <hand feeling of exposure-satisfaction of taking photograph> association in functional consequence-psychological consequence level, and <satisfaction of taking photograph-accomplishment> association in psychological consequence-value level. b) In HVM about digital camera, the most important ladder is <carrying camera-convenience-enjoyment of taking photograph- enjoyment of life>, and in HVM about film camera, the most important ladder is <size and weight of camera-convenience-enjoyment of taking photograph-enjoyment of life>.
