방송 저널리스트의 전문직주의 인식에 관한 탐색적 연구

이 연구는 방송 저널리스트가 갖고 있는 전문직주의 인식을 분석하였다. 전문직주의의 태도적 속성을 알아본 결과, 대부분의 저널리스트는 비교적 긍정적으로 응답하였다. 다만 ‘자율성’ 항목이 가장 낮게 나타났는데 이는 최근 지상파 방송사의정치권력 개입과 공정방송 요구 파업 등의 현실을 반영한 결과로 보인다. 그리고여성의 전문직주의 인식이 남성보다 더 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 한국 저널리즘 조직의 남성중심 근무여건이나 조직문화가 관련이 있는 것으로 여겨진다. 또한 언론학을 전공하지 않은 저널리스트의 전문직주의 인식이 언론학을 전공한 사람들보다도높았다. 이러한 결과는 언론학을 가르치고 있는 교수들로 하여금 자신들이 전문직업인으로서의 저널리스트 양성에 얼마나 기여하고 있는지에 대한 성찰을 요구하고있다. 이 연구는 방송 저널리스트의 전문직주의 태도적 속성을 분석했다는 데 의의가 있다. 그리고 향후 언론 전문직주의 인식에 대한 보다 정교한 측정도구들이 개발될 필요성을 보여주고 있다.
Abstract
This study examined broadcasting journalists' perceptions onattitudinal aspects of professionalism. Study results showed thatmost of the journalists surveyed in this study provided positiveanswers on professional attitudinal perception. However, 'autonomy'factor scored lowest, and this seems attributable to politicalcontrol against broadcasting journalists and the journalists' strikefor fair journalism. Female journalist's professional perception appearedweaker than that of their male counterparts, andmale-centered working environment and organizational culturecould be regarded as main causes of this. Journalists whose highereducational major was not related with journalism scored moreon professional perception than those who majored in journalism. This suggests that journalism professors reflect on their teachingfor journalism. This study has some implications in the field ofjournalism, in that this is one of the very first studies which analyzedKorean broadcasting journalists' perceptions on attitudinal aspects of professionalism. This study also suggests needs of developingmore accurate measurement tools for broadcasting journalists'perceptions.
