Abstract

Although work-life balance policies(WLP) accommodate the interests of both an organization and its employees, the extant literature has paid limited attention to how employee wellbeing can be a positive outcome of WLP. Drawing on the job demands-resources (JD-R) model, this study examines the structural relationship between WLP and employees' subjective wellbeing (SWB) through their sense of Quality of Work Life (QWL). Using partial least squares path modeling (PLS-PM), this study finds that WLP are positively and indirectly associated with SWB via its influence on QWL. The findings imply that through bottom-up spillover effects, WLP as job resources can generate better employee wellbeing. Organizations need to expand information-based FFPs that employees can accommodate their various human needs.
