사회자본이 개인의 경제적 성과에 미치는 영향

초록

본 연구는 사회자본의 다양한 효과 중에서 개인의 경제적 성과에 미치는 영향을 확인하는데 목적을 두었다. 이때 신뢰는 잘 알고 있는 사람에 대한 특정신뢰와 연고가 없는 일반인을 대상으로 한 일반신뢰로 구분하고, 네트워크는 연고 집단 중심의 결속형 네트워크와 이질적 집단과 교류하는 교량형 네트워크로 구분하여, 각각 경제적 성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 그리고 사회자본이 그것이 형성되는 사회의 다양한 특성을 반영하여 고유한 형태로 나타나는 만큼 한국사회를 분석 대상으로 할 때 기존 국외 연구와 그 영향이 다를 수 있다는 가정에 기초하여 연구를 진행하였다. 분석결과 개인의 소득수준에 영향을 미치는 사회자본의 구성요소별 특성은 첫째, 사회에서 거래의 상대방이 되는 일반신뢰 수준이 높을수록 개인의 경제활동이 활발해 지고 소득 수준이 높았다. 반면에 가족, 이웃, 지인과 같이 평소 잘 알고 있는 개인적 관계가 형성된 사람에 대한 신뢰 수준은 경제적 성과와 관련이 없게 나타났다. 둘째, 이질적 집단과 교류하여 폭넓고 다양한 정보 공유가 가능한 교량형 네트워크는 물론, 연고 집단 중심으로 정보소통의 범위가 한정적인 결속형 네트워크 역시 개인의 경제적 성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다.

Abstract

This paper conducted the research based on the assumption that social capital can have different effects as it appears in its own property reflecting the various characteristics of the society. For the research trust is categorized into the particularized trust centered on the family or friend-tied group and the general trust for the general public without the tie. And the network is categorized into the boding network centered within the group and the bridging network interacted with heterogeneous groups. As a result of the research, the characteristics of each component of social capital affecting the income level of individuals are as follows: First, the higher the level of general trust, the more active the individual's economic activity and the higher the level of income. On the other hand, the level of specialized trust, such as family, neighbors and acquaintances, is not associated with economic performance. Second, it was confirmed that bridging networks as well as bonding networks have positive effects on the individual's economic performance.
