SE, ES 두 그룹 모두 다음의 6가지 근력운동을 실시하였다; Bench Press, Lat Pull Down, Shoulder Press, Squat, Seated Arm Curl, Cable Push Down.
Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of different resistance training (RT) sequence method on % fat reduction, muscular strength improvement, resting metabolic rate (RMR) and the thyroid hormone (T3, T4) changes. Methods: % fat, 1-RM, RMR and thyroid hormone were measured before and after 12 wk of RT in 16 untrained male (21-27 yr). They were randomly assigned to a Strength-Endurance sequence training group (SE; n=8) and Endurance-Strength sequence training group (ES; n=8). Each group participates in 36 training session (3d/wk for 12weeks). RT programs were composed 6 types of exercise; Bench Press, Lat Pull Down, Shoulder Press, Squat, Seated Arm Curl and Cable Push Down. 1-RM test, RMR and blood samplings were performed four times; before training, after 4th, after 8th and after 12th week of the RT. Results: After 12wk of training, in the mean value of 1-RM, SE group showed 19.3% higher than ES and in RMR value, SE represented 7.5% higher than ES. There were no significant differences in T3 & T4 level between SE & ES. However, T3 in SE was a little higher than ES and T4 in both groups showed similarly increased tendency until 4weeks, and then decreased end of the training period. Conclusions: In conclusion, this study indicates that the SE resistance training method is more efficient than ES in % fat reduction, muscular strength and RMR improvement. Futhermore, changes in RMR in response to RT are influenced by muscle strength but not due to changes in thyroid hormone.
